Sheiiba is the Safety, Health and Environmental Intra Industry Benchmarking Service.
Founded in 1997, sheiiba provides a secure environment for intra company health
& safety practice-sharing and performance-comparing.

How does sheiiba work?
Sheiiba’s purpose is to provide a knowledge and benchmarking source for HSE practitioners
who want to learn from other companies and help others when they can.
Companies join sheiiba to take advantage of the depth and quality of Health, Safety
and Environmental information immediately available to them at minimal cost. Every
day our members log on to search for information that will help them find new and
better ways to manage H, S & E.
Asksheiiba allows users to anonymously ask members questions and
receive direct replies from those who can help. The archive of
657 questions and answers is indexed by topic. Users can not only read the answers but make direct
contact with respondents. The Document Library
works the same way, containing nearly 1500 documents.
What information is available?
Take a look. Click on the QUICK SEARCH tool and select a topic.
The results show the questions that members have asked as well as documents on the
subject available in the library. If you click on a question title it will open
the full question and beneath it the replies from our members. In total there are
657
questions archived with over 2000 responses.
Many replies contain attachments. These are the company policies, standards, guidelines
and other documents that members have sent with their replies.
Documents are contained within their own library. The QUICK SEARCH
results show these too. There are now
1207
company documents available to members, divided across over 100 categories which
members can download and adapt for their own requirements.
Finally there are league tables which show
how members' accident rates compared with those of other companies.
Which organisations subscribe?
Sheiiba members come from all industry sectors; both private and public. In the
main, they are large UK / International organisations within the FTSE top 250. Individual
users tend to be senior practitioners from the HSE management team with Safety and
Occupational Health professionals making up the majority.
Each January and May, sheiiba collects accident and ill health data from its members.
From this raw data, Frequency Rates, Incidence rates and Days Lost Rates league tables are produced.
These span both single day lost time injuries and >3 day lost time injuries.
Members can elect whether to appear anonymously or with their company name visible.
Also produced on demand are sector-specific charts where a number of companies agree
to participate. Any trade association can use sheiiba’s league tables function for
a nominal charge. Our systems allow us to use any rate for benchmarking.
What does membership cost?
Membership of sheiiba is paid by annual subscription. Costs vary dependent upon
how many users have access.
Membership is open to any company with many employees and or significant risks.
